Meet the inspiration...
"The Bell Tolls at Traeger Hall is inspired by the real life, unsolved murder of George Harry Storrs in 1909. He lived in Gorse Hall in Stalybridge, England and because of his insistence that he was to be murdered, a bell was installed on the roof to be rung in case of an emergency.
â
November 1st, 1909, that emergency came. At 9pm, an intruder entered the house. A struggle ensued between Harry and the mysterious man, during which Harry cried for his wife to "ring the bell". She did so, and on arrival, the police found George Harry Storrs dying from 15 stab wounds inflicted by the intruder.
â
With the only suspect charged but then acquitted at his hearing, no one person was ever convicted for his murder.
